Tagaytay

One of the most active Volcanos in the Philippines. Approx. an hour's drive from manila, you can surely visit on a day's trip since the road leading to the best views has a lot of restaurants and bed&breakfast type accommodations making it convenient for all types of travellers.

Balanga, Bataan

A two hour drive from manila will take you to the nearest beach already. Balanga, Bataan is going up north passing thru the NLEX (Northern Luzon Express Hi-Way) exiting Mexico, Pampanga and thru Subic Bay or the more scenic side of Olongapo and a glimpse of the south china sea.

Nagpana, Iloilo

Two years ago i had the chance to backpack around the Philippines with Anders Lindstrom, director of botanical collections at Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden, Thailand - http://www.nongnoochtropicalgarden.com, and Ex situ Conservation Subgroup leader of the Cycad Specialist Group (IUCN)- http://www.cycad.org in search of our local Pitogo. One of those trips led us to an unusual aeta community living at Nagpana, Iloilo. Armed with his own gps and brilliant maneuvers of our aeta guides we successfully find it sitting atop the mountain side slope of about 60degrees. All this in a span of 40mins of hiking, 30mins of brief lunch courtesy again of our aeta guide for handpicking us a jackfruit, and a few hours spent in socializing with the community - all for the love of pitogo!

Zambales

We stumbled upon Anawangin Cove by chance because we were simply following trails of a particular local pitogo or cycad. Also shown is an island called Capones - apparently a diving spot.

Save Boayan, Palawan

Dear Friends,
Friends of friends,
and all those who visited Boayan,
were touched by the beauty and simplicity of the place,
who were attracted by our efforts to live in harmony with nature,
our efforts to protect the forest and the sea,
to protect the creatures who live and reproduce in and around Boayan:
the vulnerable Tabon Bird
the endangered sea turtles,
the highly endangered Philippine cockatoo
the palawan hornbills, parrots and eagles
the squirrels and bayawaks
the monkeys and many more.
we may need your help

to be allowed to continue protecting, preserving this natural haven.
to be allowed to continue our small quiet projects with the community.

Please look at the link

 http://www.boayan.org/

We object to the destruction of Boayan Island at the hands of big developers!
We support the establishment of a Marine and Forest Reserve in Daplac Cove, Boayan Island!
We support the development of community based sustainable eco-tourism owned and run by the communities not by big time developers!

We object to the fencing in and privatisation of most islands, leave some free space for nature to take center stage!
